Last year the air conditioners in Louisville barely got the opportunity to start up. The Louisville area hosted a July that did not see a temperature that reached 90 degrees. Now barely half way through the summer we have received 30+ days at or above 90. So, let’s be honest no one likes having to call for air conditioning service and repair. The thought of even spending money on air conditioning service make a hot situation even hotter. However if you do have to call a contractor in Louisville and Southern Indiana to service your ac, what should you know about choosing the correct company? Here is a short list of things you may want to consider.

#1 Avoid companies that have an unusually quick service at a cheap price. I’m not saying that you can’t find a quick turn around time at a reasonable cost. If a company has a multitude of appointments to fill, what does that say about the company? Why are these air conditioning appointments wide open? A company that retains a good reputable client base and provides a great service are in high demand and may not be able to provide same day service. They are not asking you to wait just to make you suffer in the heat but are providing a good level of service with timely, effective repairs and in order to do this it takes time. Between the involved man hours and incoming calls there may be a day or two wait so that you can receive this same level of high service.

#2 Asked to be put on a cancellation list. Our air conditioning service department is very busy but we do offer a waiting list for canceled appointments. It never hurts to ask your air conditioner service rep for a little help by being put on the list.

#3 Turn the air conditioner off. I can’t tell you how many times we make a service and repair call to a home, only to find the indoor or outdoor unit frozen. Service technicians can not work under ac systems under these conditions. Your service technician may ask you to turn the unit off while he goes to make another service call. The only problem is now you have to wait even longer for your air conditioner to be serviced. So remember that once you have decided your air conditioner is experiencing a problem and you call to set a service appointment. Go ahead and turn the outdoor unit off and the fan to the on position at your thermostat. This will ensure that your system is in a good condition to be serviced and will offset an unnecessary delay.

#4 Don’t just look for the band aid. Quick fixes are just that, quick fixes. Sure it may get your air conditioner up and running for now but what about the big picture. A good technician will give you several options for repair the problem typically ranging from a permanent premium option to the repair that will get you up and going for now. Be aware that in most all situations you do have several options for repair and as a client you should be advised of all of them.

#5 Discounts for Preventative Maintenance clients. Some companies, ours included provide discounts to their planned maintenance clients. For as little as $15 a month you can receive semi annual inspections and cleanings of the heating and air conditioner unit(s). With that you receive a reduced diagnostic rate and 20% OFF REPAIRS. Which can save you money up front and can comfort you in knowing that your HVAC system will be in top working ordering for the next year? Click here for details on our exclusive SILVER CLUB MEMBERSHIP!

#6 Be specific. Try and give as much information as possible to your air conditioning company including the problem you are having, number of systems, type of system and the location of the equipment. This will match you up with correct technician and the proper appointment.

Spring is here and for most people in Louisville, Ky. that means a couple things Thunder Over Louisville and the Kentucky Derby. For us here at Allgeier it means that we are gearing up for the cooling season. Air conditioner maintenance, service calls and air conditioning replacements. As we approach each season, we always try and reach out to as many homeowners as possible to stress the importance of having their air conditioning systems serviced before cooling.

Each day I see advertisements trying to draw people in to do the same exact thing that we are doing. Some advertisements offer very low prices, like the one I saw today for a $39 clean and check. Cheap, huh! But what are you getting for the low price or more importantly what are you sacrificing?

Today in Miami, Florida; Barton G. Weiss opened The Villa by Barton G. The compound used to be the private home of famed designer Gianni Versace. The rooms here start out at $2,100 a night for a cozy night sleep. Meanwhile 1 hour north of Miami sets a “the common hotel”, the cost is a low, low price of $69 per night. While the two market the same premise of a cozy night sleep, why is one so much more expensive than the other?

Many consumers will look at these two hotels and say “Well, I am not paying $2,000 for a hotel room when I can spend just $69 and get the same thing.” So why is there such a difference in cost? Is it because one is just over charging you? Both offer a cozy night sleep, so why pay more?

At The Villa by Barton G. guests can enjoy the unimaginable amenities that come along with this newly renovated Miami “it” spot. Some of the features of this luxurious property include king beds or custom double king beds, custom Italian marble over-sized bathrooms with 2 shower heads, extensive closet space, separate living rooms, sitting areas and private balconies and terrace. You can also enjoy the Two Thousand Mosaic Pool and two private lounges. British trained butlers, Frette linens, Thierry Mugler toiletries, wi-fi and complimentary e-tronic newspapers top off just some of the plush accommodations for it’s guest.

The Common Motel you always get a king size bed but it’s 15 years old and smells awful, their is one small bathroom you can barely fit in, their are bars on the windows instead of balconies outside. There is no sitting area, no closets, no pool and their is one computer you must fight for time for.

So was the plush Miami hotel just over charging you or did you sacrifice to get the low price? Now, I realize you may not be able to afford an extra $2000 for a night at a hotel but couldn’t you afford an extra $50 for a quality company to service the system that is the engine for your family’s comfort?

Many times things look the same from the outside until you actually start to explore why one has the higher price. There is a premium price attached to a premium service and it isn’t always $2000 it can be as little as $50 but how would you ever know until you experienced it for yourself.

I invite you to call Allgeier Air (502-968-0122) and experience what true comfort, service and quality feels like.

For 24 hour service and repair, expert advice, replacement of your air conditioner, furnace or geothermal system. Call The Professionals of Allgeier Air.

Villa’s 10 custom suites featuring king sized beds or custom double king beds, custom Italian marble oversized bathrooms with two shower heads, expansive closet space, separate living rooms or sitting areas and balconies or patios. Enjoy exclusive access to The Thousand Mosaic Pool and two private lounges. Worship the sun or gaze at the stars from The Rooftop Lounge. Dine in The Villa’s restaurant, set in the pebble-mosaiced Dining Room with a focus on refined continental cuisine, or choose to breakfast or lunch en suite or poolside.

EKPC has learned the thermostats used in the SimpleSaver program may have a potential problem that may lead to overheating, according to a press release issued by EKPC, Tuesday.

While EKPC currently has no independent evidence the product creates a risk, out of an abundance of caution the co-op decided to remove the thermostats and replace them, officials said.

Customers who participate in the program can arrange to have their thermostats replaced at no cost by calling 800-305-5493. Technicians from GoodCents, who work on behalf of EKPC and its member cooperatives will do the work. However, if customers prefer, they can contact the heating and air conditioning company of their choice and be reimbursed for the work. Customers who choose this option may bring or mail their SimpleSaver thermostat and paid invoice to their local co-op’s office, and the co-op will process a reimbursement.

“We don’t know that there is an issue with the thermostats, but safety is always a paramount emphasis in our business,” said President and CEO Tony Campbell. “We believe that taking this step is the prudent thing to do.”

Kentucky Utilities and Louisville Gas and Electric also sent out press releases Tuesday saying they are voluntarily replacing some programmable thermostats installed as part of their Demand Conservation program due to a potential safety concern.

The utilities say about 12,500 customers have the thermostats in their homes or businesses as part of the program.

Clover carries the NSI 3000 Low-Level CO Monitor, one of the most sensitive CO alarms available.

Low-Level Carbon Monoxide Monitors Are Recommended For:

Young children

The elderly

Pregnant women

People with chronic medical conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, heart disease or anemia.

This low-level carbon monoxide monitor will display levels of CO below 30 ppm (standard CO alarms DO NOT!) and help to alert you of potentially dangerous levels of carbon monoxide. The conventional carbon monoxide monitors sold in store’s, alarm at 70 parts per million (PPM). A fireman will not enter a home without breathing apparatus on at 35 PPM. The Environmental Protection Agency published exposure limit is 9 PPM. Our monitors will alarm gently at 10 PPM (sounds similar to a low battery chirp), A little more forcefully at 35 PPM and very loud at 70 PPM.
