Louisville Air Conditioning Service

Last year the air conditioners in Louisville barely got the opportunity to start up. The Louisville area hosted a July that did not see a temperature that reached 90 degrees. Now barely half way through the summer we have received 30+ days at or above 90. So, let’s be honest no one likes having to call for air conditioning service and repair. The thought of even spending money on air conditioning service make a hot situation even hotter. However if you do have to call a contractor in Louisville and Southern Indiana to service your ac, what should you know about choosing the correct company? Here is a short list of things you may want to consider.

#1 Avoid companies that have an unusually quick service at a cheap price. I’m not saying that you can’t find a quick turn around time at a reasonable cost. If a company has a multitude of appointments to fill, what does that say about the company? Why are these air conditioning appointments wide open? A company that retains a good reputable client base and provides a great service are in high demand and may not be able to provide same day service. They are not asking you to wait just to make you suffer in the heat but are providing a good level of service with timely, effective repairs and in order to do this it takes time. Between the involved man hours and incoming calls there may be a day or two wait so that you can receive this same level of high service.

#2 Asked to be put on a cancellation list. Our air conditioning service department is very busy but we do offer a waiting list for canceled appointments. It never hurts to ask your air conditioner service rep for a little help by being put on the list.

#3 Turn the air conditioner off. I can’t tell you how many times we make a service and repair call to a home, only to find the indoor or outdoor unit frozen. Service technicians can not work under ac systems under these conditions. Your service technician may ask you to turn the unit off while he goes to make another service call. The only problem is now you have to wait even longer for your air conditioner to be serviced. So remember that once you have decided your air conditioner is experiencing a problem and you call to set a service appointment. Go ahead and turn the outdoor unit off and the fan to the on position at your thermostat. This will ensure that your system is in a good condition to be serviced and will offset an unnecessary delay.

#4 Don’t just look for the band aid. Quick fixes are just that, quick fixes. Sure it may get your air conditioner up and running for now but what about the big picture. A good technician will give you several options for repair the problem typically ranging from a permanent premium option to the repair that will get you up and going for now. Be aware that in most all situations you do have several options for repair and as a client you should be advised of all of them.

#5 Discounts for Preventative Maintenance clients. Some companies, ours included provide discounts to their planned maintenance clients. For as little as $15 a month you can receive semi annual inspections and cleanings of the heating and air conditioner unit(s). With that you receive a reduced diagnostic rate and 20% OFF REPAIRS. Which can save you money up front and can comfort you in knowing that your HVAC system will be in top working ordering for the next year? #6 Be specific. Try and give as much information as possible to your air conditioning company including the problem you are having, number of systems, type of system and the location of the equipment. This will match you up with correct technician and the proper appointment.
